Coping with Depression

Depression can be a long-term and disabling condition. It is estimated that in the U.K. alone more than six million people consult their doctors  annually and most of us will suffer from it at some time in our lives. What is less often realised is that some kinds of  depression can be a positive sign in the progression through a period of change, and can signify that the sufferer has reached the point that they are ready to accept the situation and move on.
These workshops aim to familiarise participants with the different types of  anxiety and depression with some possible causes and symptoms. They encourage people to try some self-help approaches that can be effective for the milder forms of depression and to discuss further options and treatments available through medical and alternative therapies.
The content includes:

  • Defining anxiety and depression
  • Examining emotional intelligence competencies
  • Building self-esteem
  • Stress self-evaluations
  • Relaxation techniques and breathing exercises
  • Exercise
  • Sleep management
  • Assertiveness
  • Anger management
  • Benefits of a healthy lifestyle
  • Goal setting
